Realistic Slayer headline set list for summer and beyond

Postby slatanic on Sun Apr 10, 2011 8:20 pm

Yeah yeah it's been done before but I wanted to compile a realistic Slayer set list moving forward that would keep mostly everyone happy:

1. World Painted Blood (keep starting with this, make sense to keep playing the newest material first)
2. Unit 731 (time to debut this fucker and logically would be nice to follow WPB)
3. The Antichrist or Die by the Sword (This is usually where they play War Ensemble, really would love them to switch it up already and would be great if they go all the way back to SNM)
4. Black Magic (Bring this song back from Euro sets, a must live song IMO)
5. Snuff (Judging from the live vids, this is great track to keep in the set list)
6. Hell Awaits (They just have to keep playing one of the most evil songs ever)
7. Silent Scream
8. Captor of Sin or Necrophiliac (Played both of these about 7-8 years ago, why not again?)
9. Live Undead or Ghosts of War (SOH needs more love, pick one of these for the next tour!)
10. Payback (Since they have to play something from GHUA as Kerry makes up the set lists after all)
11. Psychopathy Red (4 song limit from the new album when Slayer plays at least 18 songs live)
12. Blood Red or Spirit in Black
13. Seasons in the Abyss (Keep 2 song max from Seasons as they just played the whole damn thing last year)
14. Postmortem
15. Raining Blood
-------------------
16. South of Heaven
17. Aggressive Perfector (How great was it to hear this one back in the set last year after not playing it for what seemed like an eternity, I say Slayer should keep this in the setlist for the rest of their touring career)
18. Angel of Death (Must show closer as we all know)

What do you guys think? And don't bring up songs like Crionics or Praise of Death, you know it's not happening.
Sacrifice the lives of all I know they
Soon shall die
Their souls are damned to rot in Hell
and keep the fire growing deep inside
Hell awaits...

Looks pretty damn good to me... although for #9 I would have to pick Live Undead as they just played Ghosts a few years back... and since SoH was pretty much my favorite tour... I would love to hear Read, Spill or even Cleanse in there... but I know theres no chance of that... over all you picked a good and possible set... :slayer01

Yeah I would love to hear Live Undead again, saw them play it once not too long ago. Would really like to hear Spill the Blood, last time they did it was 2004 I believe. Such an awesome song live!

They will probably play:

World painted blood
Hate worldwide
Cult
War ensemble
Jihad
Disciple
Seasons in the abyss
Silent scream
Angel of death
Raining blood
South of heaven

And about 4 other songs that they switch from tour to tour.
Orka ha en signatur, ändå ingen som fattar vad här står ändå så...HAHA Iaf inte om jag skriver det på svenska

the set they play, wednesday in zurich… hell awaits is missing: i saw slayer so often since 1987… it's the first time they don't play it! No Chemical warfare or aggressive perfector neither… but Black Magic… seeing Slayer without Jeff was… bizarre.

World Painted Blood
Hate Worldwide
War Ensemble
Postmortem
Temptation
Dead Skin Mask
Silent Scream
The Antichrist
Americon
Payback
Seasons in the Abyss
Snuff
Encore:
South of Heaven
Raining Blood
Black Magic
Angel of Death

And here's unrealistic setlist which i would like to see:

1. World Painted Blood (blah, blah, promotion of the latest record)
2. War Ensemble (best 2nd live track choice ever!)
3. At dawn they sleep (a lil bit of creepy, schizophrenic mood)
4. Stain of Mind (coz it's a kickass live song)
5. Haunting the chapel
6. Chemical Warfare
7. Ghost of War (because it's the perfect follow-up to ChW)
8. Necrophobic
9. Dead skin Mask, leading straight into....
10. Hell Waits!!!
11. Postmortem
12. Raining Blood
13. South of Heaven
14. Angel of Death

And i can die happy! :wasted:
on your mark, get set, terrible!

Meh, really don't care about that song. But since I'm not going to any of their shows anymore, what does it really matter. Last year on Wacken I got to see them live and that's fine with me.

i must be a lucky guy…! even last summer they played it… but make no mistake, i'm not so nostalgic about the good old songs (even if it would be fucking cool hearing one more time criminally insane, at dawn they sleep or kill again live!) I appreciate hearing the new ones live. but hell awaits, for me, cannot be overlooked… Just like Angel of death. so i was a little disappointed after the show… Maybe the fact that Jeff was not here – even if o'brien did a good job – increased my feeling… the show will be better next time, with or without Hell awaits!!!

Not their greatest song on not one of their greatest records... It's sort of okay, but I wouldn't put it on my list on my mp3 player for example.
