A lot of people I knew back in High School didn't even pay attention to the lyrics. It was around the time of the Tattoo the Planet Tour (just after 9/11) and it was like... the in-thing was to wear either Slipknot, Slayer or Pantera shirts because it was the latest thing that would irritate parents. Then when parents embraced Slipknot (when Marks and Spencer started selling Slipknot hoodies) shirts that said shit like 'Disillusioned Youth' and 'Spear Britney' became popular.
That's teen angst for you... poseurism in it's earliest stages!
The teen angst torch is being held by mallcore atm in Scotland anyway.

not really i remember the kids at school who would say "oh yeah i love slayer or pantera or whoever" but if you asked em any questions like whats your fave album they would usually reply "oh all of em theyre so good "
