Tom & ESP...

Postby vavoom on Wed Oct 29, 2014 4:22 pm

It's not an "Old Man" car...

Scion, sponsor of SLAYER’s fall U.S. tour, gives fans an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look in a new video clip posted to Scion AV's YouTube channel. The clip finds SLAYER frontman Tom Araya at the ESP factory, home of his signature series bass.

Scion previously announced that a project car designed by SLAYER and featuring excessive speaker power, would be unveiled at Specialty Equipment Market Association's annual trade event in November.

SLAYER is currently recording its new album for an early 2015 release. The CD is being produced by Terry Date, who previously worked with the band on the song "Implode", which was made available as a free download as a "thank you" to the band's fans for their continued support following SLAYER's surprise performance at this past April's Revolver Golden Gods awards in Los Angeles.

It's just a car old men have to drive in because that company paid for the tour?

Who would have thought Slayer will be part of product-placement campaign. :smoke:

But it's just how music industry looks like, there's no money from the labels so band have to look for the outside ways of revenue.

listen, I'm a big Tom fan, he is the fucking MAN... whatever he is into at the moment is fine. but you know, endorsements come and go, and we have to hope for the future. do you realize how long it has been since Tom has played one of his wave basses? decades I think. yet to this day, if you say "I have a wave bass" or "man the bc rich wave bass is my favorite" people always say "let me guess, you must be a big-time Slayer fan." :slayer01

well to me it just totally personified the slayer onstage look...I mean could you view angus young in the same light if he started using a les paul instead of an SG???
he stopped using it at the end of the seasons tour but did briefly bring it back out during the 1998 diablos tour
to play the dropped tuned stuff

Old post, but I'm new. This is the only one besides Tom's. I love it. I would love to see his Waves today.

slayers practice room was broken into back in 2006, someone drove a truck through the wall to get in
it's unknown if toms wave basses were taken or not or how much of their equipment from the 80's was taken

i thought it might have been some religious fanatics who burn't it all in some sort of exorcism/reprisal for the national day of slayer on 6/6/06
