Sounds doubtful. Didn't Kerry use a double-necked V sometime in the past?

as far as I know, slayer never uses acoustic guitars. they always use electric guitars, sometimes clean, usually distorted. the intro of south of heaven is played on a distorted guitar, not on a clean guitar.

I have actually tried playing some of their heavier parts on an acoustic guitar. It doesn't sound like something Slayer would do, but it still sounds decent. Of course, my acoustic kept going out of tune because I was playing it so damn hard!

No, thankfully they don't use acoustic :D
Yeah they use the south of heaven intro when playing it live because there's like a layer of 4 or 5 guitars on the record, the great thing is Slayer can play the remainder of the song unlike Metallica when they attempt blackened (intro sounds great then it all goes to hell)

Hope this helps.

dude basically anybody with a halfway decent right hand can play the beginning of Raining Blood. it's some of the riffs after that are the hard part. and if you play them on a nice acoustic ( i have an epiphone archtop jazz box) it sounds bad ass. it's also funny to see people look at you playing Slayer on a jazz guitar. i've also played Raining Blood on a banjo which must have been a sight but banjos are tuned differently than a guitar so i only figured out a few riffs.

I believe they use 12 string guitars on Spill The Blood (on South Of Heaven of course, not live), or 2 guitars on top of each other. The intro riff concists of a dark tone and a high tone...

I won't believe Slayer have used acoustic guitars until someone provides credible photographic evidence proving otherwise.

Dumb fuck, Kerry explained Spill the Blood in a recent guitar world colum. i think it was the Dimebag issue. Jeff normally writes the slow creepy acoustic shit but Kerry usually plays it cause Jeff hates clean sounds.

Dumb fuck? That's a bit un-called for you prat!

And anyway, there's a difference between acoustic and clean you chode!

Spill the blood is clean whereas I think South of Heaven has an acoustic guitar doubled up with some clean guitars.

And yeah, I read that article 'I don't even have a clean sound live... blah blah blah'
